Ashley
Claims Specialist
Bio
Ashley’s path to helping others with their OWCP battles came along after years of learning through her own bit of hard luck. Ashley spent over ten years as an Aircraft Sheetmetal Mechanic working for the Department of Defense and was injured on the job. She knows what it’s like to be an injured federal worker. She knows what it’s like to have a nurse case manager visit her at home and follow her to doctor appointments. She knows what it’s like to lose her career due to being injured on the job. She knows what it’s like to lose income while waiting on a claims examiner to process claims. She knows what it’s like to go through vocational rehabilitation. She knows what it’s like to get bills for treatment related to her worker’s comp claims. She knows what it’s like to need authorizations for treatment and not have them. She knows what it’s like to file and take an OPM disability retirement, and she knows what it’s like to smooth out all of these (and more) bumps in the road that are sure to come.
Ashley feels honored to help her fellow injured federal civil servants navigate the red tape through the OWCP process. She understands how government agencies work. During her tenure with the DoD, Ashley also spent five years as a union steward and three years on the executive board of AFGE 916, one of the largest union locals in the nation. She also holds an Associate’s degree in paralegal studies.
Ashley is wonderfully and happily married to her best friend, Thomas, and they have a sweet little boy, David. Their family wouldn’t be complete without their two dogs, Lucy and Sugar, and their two cats, Flash and Cadence.
